Kathleen was a strong-minded, outspoken woman who emigrated from London, England, to Canada on her own as a very young woman. Mrs. Lehman, who preferred to be known simply as Kay, became an advertising executive at a time when few women rose to that level of authority. ​

Kay was an advocate for women to be as strong-spirited and free as they are intended to be. She would be pleased to know that part of her legacy has gone to funding an organization founded by a woman and dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding good homes for them.
